Call Senators Boxer and Feinstein: Fund HSR In The Jobs Bill

CA4HSR believes in the strength of our collective voice and asks your help in getting additional federal funds for high speed rail in the forthcoming Jobs Bill. Congress is going to act on the bill shortly — so we’re asking you to call Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein and tell them to include HSR funding in the Jobs Bill. Please use the form below to report the results of your call.

Senator Feinstein: (202) 224-3841

Senator Boxer: (202) 224-3553

Here are a few talking points to bring up when you are on the phone with their office:

• High speed rail will create thousands of construction jobs across the state within just a couple years.

• With construction workers experiencing unemployment rates of 30% in some places, HSR can put them back to work quickly and spur economic recovery.

• The recent award of $2.25 billion in federal stimulus was a good start, but we still need billions more in federal funding. The jobs bill is a good place to include additional HSR funds.

83% of Americans believe HSR should get a larger share of federal funding.

• Californians strongly support HSR as part of our efforts to address global warming, become energy independent, and provide affordable transportation options.

Boxer's number went to voicemail, Feinstein's number played a recording and then cut off. Left a supportive message for Boxer.

California needs HSR and the service yard belongs in Fresno (right where this state needs to start it's rebirth)!

I left a message with an aid to Senator Feinstein and a voice mail message for Senator Boxer. I urged both of them to include funding for HSR in the jobs bill.

Line picked up by a staffer, i used the content info from the email you sent me to inform Sen Feinstein's office I would like to see the HSR built and that I'd def use it if the ticket price was competitive. they took my zip code and thanked me for the call.
